Crypto Noob

Litecoin...I invested in this guy around the $245 mark. Granted, I’m late to the party. I know I’m not going to make a crazy killing off of this one. But compared to the other coins I’ve purchased from Coinbase , I’m really underwhelmed in the excitement department. Even Bitcoin Moves a LITTLE I bought into Bitcoin a while ago. Even for a few days, BTC has fluctuated $1-$1.5K, keeping me a little bit interested. That 8 or 9 percent move is kind of tense, even for a crypto noob or small scale investor. Ethereum is Really Fun Ethereum has been the exciting one for sure. I originally purchased ETH to get into Ripple (XRP), but after seeing that joke of a coin just falter a few times over, I left my money in place on Coinbase . Now I have some decent gains on ETH. Had I purchased Ripple as planned, I’d be out the same amount that I’m up on Ethereum. Sometimes, dollar value doesn’t matter, and volatility is flat out dangerous. Do SOMETHING Litecoin! Man, I am SO glad I didn’t touch Ripple. For days the article headlines read: “Move over Bitcoin” “Ripple Sees Astronomical Gains” “Ripple Passes Ethereum” Yesterday, Coinbase said they weren’t adding any new currencies. That sent Ripple downwards as it was. Today, this joke of a coin is headed even lower. What once was folks saying “$4 here we come” and “$5 tomorrow”, Now turns to “So glad I bought at $2.20” and “Go back over $2.50!” These advocates of Ripple, who probably don’t know much to begin with about investing, are playing a game of “hopes and dreams”. Their hype is not only not backed up, but it doesn’t even show up in the candlestick trends! Stop! You idiots aren’t helping anyone. Now if you got in to Ripple early or low, go ahead and hold! No one is saying it won’t go up to $4 or $5. But this “tomorrow” talk has gotta stop. Bitcoin has a run that’s completely unique. You won’t see it again, the crypto market is too saturated now and even that is getting worse. ...

Well, we finally have it. If you've been playing on Coinbase for your Ethereum, you've probably been watching it teeter between $930 and $999. As of just a few minutes ago, Ethereum broke through $1,000.  My first thought was that it was going to fall, and fall fast. But instead, it did the exact opposite. People began to catch on and buy more Ethereum.  There had been a lot of twitter activity for Ethereum, with many folks leaving alt coins and returning to the known safe bets, like Bitcoin, Ether, and Litecoin, all readily available on Coinbase .  I'm really curious as to where it's going to go from here. My first thought is that this is going to head back down before it climbs again. But crypto is weird like that, and as we saw with Bitcoin, the sky is the limit. I'm in no way saying that Ethereum is going to hit $15k, but I wouldn't be surprised if it keeps growing as the suggested alternative to Bitcoin.  With coin going this high, I certa...

When I first read up on Ripple, I got quite excited. This new, affordable crypto currency was trending and ready to take off. According to everything I read, it was a BUY BUY BUY. But then I got my first coins in. Some Bitcoin, some Ethereum, and some Litecoin. I knew that these were somewhat safe bets. A far less volatile coin is a better bet than something that's got the potential to swing. My first encounter with the opportunity to buy some Ripple ($XRP). It was sitting right around $2.69, and that was off a 30% or so gain on the day. It was exciting. But as I waited to get my GDAX from Coinbase set up, I really got a feel what was going on. After only a few days, I've decided to leave Ripple alone, and here's why.
